Hello,

It has been almost a year since the last comment,
and 8sync has had a 'website.git' sub-repository since then (though it seems empty.

I'm closing this ticket, but if there are other issues related to this, please let us know.

regards,

Ah!  Okay.  I understand now.  (And personally I prefer email.  But it started as a bug ticket.  Probably should stay in the bug ticket to the end.)

Since you are using git you could always host the web site source as a branch in the main repository.  That is always an available option.  However currently things are not so nice for doing so for reasons I won't bore people with here.

If it were me I would ask for a sub-project for 8sync to be created as an additional repository associated with 8sync.  Something such as 8sync/website.git or some such name.  It is arbitrary.  Then you could host the web site source there next to your project source.

Speculatively assuming this is what you will want I have done this.  You can push to and clone from

  ssh://cwebber@git.sv.gnu.org/srv/git/8sync/website

Check it out and let us know if that is what you wanted.

(Sorry, replied via email as well.)

It's for that, but that's simply the build output.  I am using a static
site generator, so that isn't the source.

It's fine, I already have hosting here for now:

  https://notabug.org/cwebber/8sync-website

I'll just continue for the source code then.  I thought it would be a
good idea to be consistent, but it's no big deal.

I am confused by your request.  Are you talking about www.gnu.org/software/8sync web files?  That is already set up and working and therefore I think it cannot be that.  Or are you talking about a different project and that project's source code?

If the 8sync web site then at this time all web files are hosted in CVS only.  No other version control system is supported yet for web files.

If for a different project's source code files then that other project would need to be submitted for review as a new project.  It would have to meet all of the free (libre) software requirements for hosting on Savannah.

Yes sorry, that's what I meant!
The CVS repository is being used for the rendered static content only.
It would be nice to have something to check the Haunt source code into.

Hello Christopher,

I'm a bit confused: it seems the project 8sync already has a working website at http://www.gnu.org/software/8sync/ ,
and uses the WebCVS repository here: http://web.cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/?root=8sync

Currently, webpages hosted on gnu.org must use CVS .
What some projects do is create a secondary git repository to store their website, and manually sync it to CVS.

Is that what you are asking for ?

Right now I'm using:

  https://notabug.org/cwebber/8sync-website

for website code hosting, but I'd prefer to use Savannah for consistency.  Is it possible to get an 8sync-website repository for the 8sync project?  Thanks!
