I agree this is a good idea.

Sadly, we currently do not have the man-power to implement it (and evidently, didn't have it in the last 4 years since this ticket was opened).

I'm adding this idea to savannah's "todo/wishlist" page (#25):

On the bright-side, we've just made hacking on savannah's PHP code much easier.

Most browsers tackle these quirks, but fixing these bugs would help compatibility! Some of them are really trivial. Some of them are due to XHTML/HTML rule mixing.

Check the homepage already:

it would be helpful and trivial to fix for example:

Line 107, Column 7: end tag for "br" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified

In this case, the bug tracking packcge (

shows additional errors, some of them inherited.
