This is more a feature request than a support request.
I keep that in mind and add it to the TODO list; I'll close this request to clarify the support requests list.

Hi,

I don't have much time right now to work on this but I don't give up! :)

Unfortunately I don't know enough about Savene to do this.  Maybe if you could give me some pointers on where to look.  Maybe the schema. But I won't know if the SQL will truly do the right thing since I won't be able to test it.

j_ali: Yes, I would be glad to see your source code - it'll come in handy.

Kevin: do you think you could start working on the SF->SQL convertion?

Actually the attached file was only the Bugs Tracker.  I want each tracker to be handled slightly differently.

As for the ones you pointed out:

artifact_type id: identifies the tracker

submitted_by: this one is tricky, Could you collect all the user ids and for each one let me know if on exists in savannah.  It could be that the user is under a different id in which case the change should be mapped.  If that is not the case would it be possible to open an account for the user with a random password and send the user an email.  if not I can send email to those users and ask them to open an account.  If it is simply not possible to assign an id than we can make use of the "Original Email" field.

artifact id: There is not formal syntax but they may be cross references in the text.  It is best to look for the id in all the text and change it.

For each tracker:

Bugs: no special treatment.

For Feature Requests: Import to bug tracker.

Please set the category to "feature request".

For Patches: Import to bug tracker not patches.

Add the "Keyword", "with patch".

Also please change "group" to "Planned Release", changing "0.60" to "0.60.5".

If they is anything I can do to help please let me know.

It's a little more awkward than that if you want to do it properly. To get the attachment names you need to parse the html for each attachment (it's not in the xml) and you need to track whether attachments have been deleted by looking at the artifact history. I'm in the process of doing something similar for sourceforge -> bugzilla. It's distinctly raw at present (and I'm still working on users) but I'll happily do at dump on you if you like.

Hmm, I see we'll also have to grab the attachments from SF.net along the way. Shouldn't a problem though.

Hi,

Well it can't be 'compatible' anyway because SF and Savane can only export trackers data - not import them :/ However it is possible to build SQL queries that matches the XML structure.

There's a couple caveats we need to deal with:

- <submitted_by>jhein-sf</submitted_by>
=> if that user is not present at Savannah, what will we replace him with?

- <artifact_type id="100245">100245</artifact_type>
=> I can't figure out what that relates to. But it seems it's the same value for every item, so maybe it can be discarded.

- <artifact id="1501324">
=> we'll need to renumber the IDs. Can there be references from a tracker item to another tracker item (dependency, special syntax to link other items in follow-ups)?

It is a hidden link:
  http://sourceforge.net/export/sf_tracker_export.php?atid=100245&group_id=245

Attached in the latest export.

I have a felling that it won't be compatible.  Since at very least Aspell has different set of trackers.  I would like these all to go into the Bug tracker.

Let me know how close these are to what Savane expects.  I am perfectly willing to do some transformations on the XML file to make it compatible.

Please don't do anything permanent yet Becca's I want to make sure things get imported correctly, and sensibly.

Hi,

This should be possible. Can you send the XML file? (can you also tell me how you can get an XML export at SF?)

I would like to start using the Bug Tracker on Savannah for GNU Aspell.  I am currently using the one on Sourceforge.  If at all possible I would like to be able to migrate the data from the Sourceforge trackers to Savannah.  If this at all possible?  I can export Sourceforge tracker data via an XML file.

Thanks in advance.  If this is not possible I will likely to continue to use Sourceforge for the time being.  Eventually I may manually import the open bugs....
