Occhiolino - The GNU LIMS - Summary
This software is part of the GNU Project.
Welcome !
Occhiolino is Laboratory Information Management System focused in Healthcare and Biomedicine.
We aim for simplicity, scalability and, without sacrificing functionality and privacy.
Occhiolino is very flexible. It can be implemented as a stand-alone LIMS on a small laboratory, or as part of a complex hospital processing thousands of lab test orders per day.
Occhiolino seamlessly integrates with GNU Health, the Free Hospital and Health Information System. For health institutions and
laboratories, this is key, since it keeps all the processes within a single instance / database (users, permissions, data, reports..), while keeping full compatibilty with GNU Health.
Starting GNU Health 3.2, in 2017, the development version of Occhiolino has its own repository. This allows to have dedicated teams dedicated to LIMS functionality (interfaces, localization, ...). Occhiolino will have its own development process, providing maximum flexibility and functionality, while being fully compatible with GNU Health.

Collaboration
There are many ways that you can contribute to the project, for example:
* Documentation
* Translation
* Bug reporting
* Quality Assurance
* Coding
* New functionality
* Implementations cases
You can also help by passing the word. Many health professionals do not know that there are free health systems. By letting them know
about GNU Health, they will be able to investigate it further.
Tell your government officials and health authorities about Free Software solutions in Health. No matter whether is GNU Health or other free health information system.
What matters is that they have to get involved in Free Software for the health sector.
Tell them about the benefits about implementing a Free Health Information System.
Public administration portals like the European Commission have already published GNU Health.
