Closing this for now, as it is not a bug in Octave and there has been no discussion for 2.5 months. The only major Linux distros that have adopted Qt6 so far are Arch Linux and Fedora Rawhide, both of which are rolling releases. (https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=package-in-distro&pkg=qt) As more distros adopt it we can migrate Octave and test Qt6 at that point. For continuing discussion please use the Discourse link in comment #2.

When more than one version of Qt is present there is usually a way to select the default version, but that tends to vary between Linux distributions.

For Octave, we rely on the qtchooser binary which can override the default just for the Octave build.

Manjaro is updating both 5 and 6. Running plain "uic --version" gives 5.15.2 but "/lib/qt6/uic --version" gives 6.2.2. Qt5 is still the default.

Do you have the development libraries for Qt6 installed on your system and have you used the "--with-qt=VERSION" option to configure before calling make?

HELLO OCTAVE!!!

Qt is now Qt 6.2 but Octave only calls Qt 5.15. How to make Octave use 6.2?

THANK YOU!!!
