In a long document, put the cursor at the end of the document, scroll up to the beginning of the document, and choose View > Zoom out or Zoom in. The view gets centered back on the cursor. To me, this is an unwanted (and unexpected) behavior. The view should remain center on the current viewing area instead.
Re-centering view on cursor position should occur only when content is being inserted through the keyboard, or when the cursor is moved using the arrows—this is how other applications behave. If I really want to re-center the view on the cursor position, I would just hit one of the arrow keys.
I suggest that the other events that trigger re-centering of the view onto the cursor position are examined as well—sorry, I can't think of any right night.
