Closing, due to lack of information.

(It /might/ be that commit 588022ab, which fixed bug #60436, has fixed this issue too.  If you run into this issue again with the latest nano, please file a new bug.)

Ping?  Any more details on this?

Okay, I've made the following matteorc file:

set autoindent
set casesensitive
set historylog
set indicator
set linenumbers
set mouse
set smarthome
set softwrap
set suspendable
set tabsize 4
set tabstospaces

include /usr/local/share/nano/*.nanorc

bind M-K comment main

And I've aliased nano to 'nano -f .../matteorc'.  (The M-K binding I've added because that is a customization I use all the time.)  For now I've not been able to reproduce the problem.

Can you give some more indications about what kind of file you were editing?  Did it contain overlong lines?  That is: did some lines get softwrapped?  And what was in the macro?  Did it contain a search command, any <Tab>s, deletes, inserts...?  And did the "Span underflowed" message occur just once, or did it occur repeatedly as you kept typing Alt+U?

(I don't think that for this bug the kernel matters.  But maybe you have an Nvidia card?  The 5.9 kernel appears to have problems with it.)

I can't reproduce the error. My terminal was 84x25 (maybe give or take a few pixels). My nanorc options are autoindent, casesensitive, historylog, indicator, linenumbers, mouse, smarthome, softwrap, suspendable, tabsize 4, tabstospaces, and I imported all the syntax-highlighting definitions. I didn't adjust the use-flags when compiling nano, so it can't be that I compiled nano weird. I forgot to mention this, but I've been having issues trying to upgrade to Gentoo 5.9.1 because of kernel panic, so I've been manually forcing my computer to boot to 5.8.14 every time I open my computer. I HIGHLY doubt that it's a kernel issue that's causing this, but I've been wrong before. As for bug #58725, I still have no idea why the mouse doesn't work on lxterminal. As you can tell, I just switched over to xfce4-terminal.

Did you make any changes to nano?  Did you compile it with reasonable options?  What happened with bug #58725?  Did you resolve the malfunction?  Did you find out what caused it?

I was hold down Alt-U to undo a bunch of changes I had made using a macro, when I got the title of this bug pop up at the bottom of the screen. GNU nano still works, it just has an error pop up when I hold down Alt-U. Using GNU nano 5.3 on Xfce4-terminal and Gentoo 5.8.14.
