This has already been done. You have probably built and installed a previous revision of Octave in /usr/local. If you delete the entire /usr/local/share/octave/6.0.0 directory and do a fresh 'make install', you should not have a sizemax.m function file anymore.

Version: 6.0.0 (hg id 5701a3716577)
OS: Linux x86_64

On starting Octave, a warning about Octave internals is displayed: "function /usr/local/share/octave/6.0.0/m/deprecated/sizemax.m shadows a built-in function"

Should sizemax.m be deleted from the dev sources?
