On Manjaro, I cannot find out how to install the GNU spell package. It does not seem to be available. See https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?q=spell .

Commit 4d77e0ad makes nano first try 'hunspell' before trying 'spell'. Hunspell understands UTF-8, and it will by default check the text against the language of the user's locale. The latter is a behavior change and may not be what current users of an unconfigured ^T expect, but... we'll see what happens.
