I've been trying to use GNU Typist to help learn a new keyboard.

However its insistence on behaving like a typewriter rather than a text editor makes it counter productive and frustrating to try to use -- so much so that I've given up.

What I mean is that the backspace key should allow "correction" of an error at all times.

Having decades of experience with typing text to computers I find that making a mistake and trying to correct it and get back into sync with the typing drill simply leads to a never ending stream of beeps and errors and I give up.

I read in the manual that only speed tests disable the backspace key, and only in some specific circumstances, but I find that it doesn't work in drills either; and neither the word-processor '-w' option, nor disabling the timer with the '-n' option, seem to make any difference.

Ideally I would like the '-w' option to make all drills and tests behave much as if one is typing in a text editor box on a browser, or in emacs text-mode.
