With the newest version (2018-07-07) the bug is resolved (see attached images).
My operating system(s) are Windows 7 Professional or Windows 10 Professional.

I attached an image of the bug in version 2017-09-09 where you can see the path and file name:
H:\My\Stuff\3-Gregoriana\AA 2017-18\SW2001\Programma ed esercitazioni\L02\demo1.dat

I attach the data file too if you wish to perform some test.

Thanks, best regards
Francesco

Try the newerst version from https://sourceforge.net/projects/pspp4windows/files/2018-07-07-ForTestingOnly/
Altough marked as a test version it is fully functionale and can replace  the 2017-09-09 version.

If it still happens, can you share the filename including the path?

Also state which MSWindows version you use and which language settings you use.

Try also what happens if you use only "normal"  ascii characters.

I can't reproduce this issue. Probably it is fixed in newer versions.

I suggest closing this

I solved downgrading to version 2016-07-14 which has a GUI working always correctly.
The issue of following versions is about the GUI, not the ability of the software to import data (probably if you write and run the syntax it works correctly).
Exact steps are:
1. Use the "Import data" command
2. Try to select one data file (try with long paths with spaces)
3. You cannot proceed to the second step of importing (the one where you decide how many lines importing).

I repeat it is not deterministic, in 90% of cases I have the abnormal behavior and on 10% of cases the correct behavior.
With version 2016-07-14 I have the 100% correct behavior (obviously with same data files and paths)

I could not reproduce this.

To keep things simple, can you test it with a .txt file and give the exact steps and if possible the syntax generated and screen shots?

In the Windows 20170909 version of PSPP, both 32 and 64 bit, (but I found this issue in previous releases too) I cannot use the GUI for "Import data...".
When I choose a file browsing folders (any file: TXT, CSV, XLS) and click on Next button I get an all blank window with just the buttons in the below right corner and one only writing on the left navbar ("Select file to import").
If I click on Finish and then Paste I get the syntax code, but I cannot interact graphically with the software to choose details about importing data.

In some not clear conditions I can have the software behave normally and I can see in the window all dropdown, radiobutton, checkboxes, grid,... I am supposed to see.
I could say this normal behavior happens only with very short paths, while the abnormal with long paths. But it si not so deterministic.
