Downgrading Severity to 3 so this is no longer a blocker for the 4.2 release.  We don't have enough reprodcible evidence to make this a blocker.

A couple weeks later, can anyone else reproduce this on Windows? If so, can anyone provide a debug backtrace showing where the error occurs?

So maybe it's not the keyboard shortcut that is the problem but something about switching keyboard layouts while Octave is running.

A gdb backtrace may point to where the crash is occurring, see http://wiki.octave.org/Debugging_Octave

Okay, I have tried to change shortcuts that are already defined in octave but result is same. Additionally, I have changed the my Ctrl+1 keyboard layout changing shortcut to another sequence but octave crashed again. For example, normally in chrome Ctrl+1 shortcut gets the first window of the browser but if I use this shortcut in chrome is not affecting the browser and my custom keyboard layout is changed. Unfortunately, in octave the things aren't going like this

here is the windows crash report:

The program octave-gui.exe version 0.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

If there really is a crash here from a keyboard layout switch or from a conflict of keyboard shortcuts, then a debug backtrace would be helpful, please provide one if possible.

Hi,

By default Ctrl+1 is supposed to open the history dock widget (if it is not already open) and give it the focus. This works fine on linux.
As a workaround you can change the default shortcuts using the preference dialog (Edit>Preferences then modify the Shortcuts tab).

Hello Octave Team,

I would like to report a bug that crashes the GUI. I have several keyboard layouts which are created for windows 7 for my different approaches to the programs i am using. These layouts have shortcuts to change between of them. For example I have Ctrl+1 shortcut to change my custom layout. If i use this shortcut while octave gui is running, octave crashes every time.

 Thank you for your consideration.
 Best Regards
