I can't reproduce this anymore either, and I could back in November.  I'm going to to close this report.  It could be something to do with system libraries as I have upgraded my OS since then.

Works for me as well on Windows 7 64-bit dev Octave

I can't reproduce this.  Can someone (Juan Pablo?) confirm that it is no longer a problem?

Confirmed.  This is actually a regression.  I had to go back to version 3.6.4 to find where Octave behaved correctly.

More details: It seems to only affect the command form of the keyword in question.  If the identifier is used with function syntax then it works correctly.

The sample code below works.

help = 1;
clear all;
help ("ls")  # works
help ls      # fails

Sorry for the broken post.
It should say:

Once the keyword "help" is shadowed it cannot be undone without exiting Octave. Clear all doesn't work.

> help = 0;
> help linspace
parse error:

  syntax error

>>> help linspace
> clear all
> help linspace
parse error:

  syntax error

>>> help linspace
