Thanks for the feedback.  In case it helps, i'm using debian side with version number 6.3-8 for libreadline6, and things work fine here.

I will report this to the Ubuntu package maintainer. The package libreadline6 in version 6.3 is heavily used by other components.

Thanks for pointing out the likely cause.
Ticket can be closed as I see it.

Hi,

I have tried version 1.2.8 with the same result as before.

I have the following information on the libreadline:
Package: libreadline6
Priority: important
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 368
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com>
Original-Maintainer: Matthias Klose <doko@debian.org>
Architecture: i386
Source: readline6
Version: 6.3-4ubuntu2

I should have added that I am following the manual, and trying out the interactive mode (http://www.gnu.org/software/mdk/manual/html_node/Interactive-mode.html#Interactive-mode).

Best regards!

You say GNU MDK 1.2.6: the latest release of MDK is 1.2.8, could you try with that one?  What version of libreadline are you using? Apparently, 6.3 has issues in some systems such as Ubuntu.  Thanks!

Hi,

I've installed mixvm, MIX virtual machine (GNU MDK 1.2.6), on Ubuntu 14.04 and every time I run "mixvm". I can compile source code and run programs, but every time I press the Up key (arrow up, like wanting to cycle the previous commands) and  it crashes and exits with a segment fault/coredump error).

I wouldn't be able to tell if this is related to "bug #36183: mixvm segfaults in mac os x (macports)".

Cheers!
