Hi on windows, when pasting it in Libreoffice and setting the font to "courier new" it looks reasonable. In MSOffice it has empty lines between.

See the attachment for the .pdf version of it produced by Libreoffice.

I've pushed a change which certainly improves the look on my machine.  Perhaps Windows/Mac people can also try.

I'd be interested to know what version of OOo Jeremy is using.  On
my debian system it used to paste with the odt format.  But since upgrading to squeeze, it now pastes only text.  So presumably they've changed the accepted targets.  It's strange however that they would remove support for clipboard pastes it's native format.

I wish the OOo people would actually document stuff.  I've not actually been able to find any information on what is supposed to work or how.

Jeremy Lavergne told me in private email that paste into OOo works OK on Mac.

Let's try and keep to one issue per item.

  • I've opened a new bug #33097 to discuss the idea of an RTF output driver.

  • The original subject of this bug is why on Windows, Openoffice.org doesn't accept an ODT clipboard target.  We need to find that out, before we can fix it.

jmd commented in IRC that reading and writing RTF files is really difficult because the format is underdocumented and misdocumented.

>We can't help Msword.

A few days ago it occurred to me that we probably could help MS Word, by adding an RTF output driver and hooking it up to cut and paste.  I did a little bit of reading on the RTF format and it seems reasonably doable.

I agree with the rest of your response.

We can't help Msword.  But OOo should work.

Someone with a Windows machine will have to investigate why the "application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text"  target isn't getting called (perhaps it has a different name on windows?)

On windows, if I copy the output and paste it on both openoffice or microsoft word I get the ascii output, instead of the nice tables.
