Francisco,

If I were to fix only major bugs, the thing would still be buggy.

You are not the only person to have noticed this issue.  It is a recurring complaint.  But this is the only bug I have open on the specific topic right now, so it will stay until I have it fixed.

I spent a lot of time this weekend reducing the size of some of the Latin characters with tall accents.  I hope that if I can reduce the size of the Georgian range in FreeMono, that I can close up the gap between lines.

Cheers!

 Hello,
ok, it's alright, the problem is really minor (square -box- graphics are not often used) and, indeed, other fonts have problems too when displaying these boxes
Thank you,

Francisco,

This is a known issue.

It is a combination of a poor font format specification, with the dual purposes of wanting characters from all over Unicode, and then wanting the line height to be somehow regular.

The specification doesn't really give a way to specify the line height.  There are some parameters, but they are interpreted differently by different applications and systems.   I can use them to effect a line height, but at the expense of many of the tall and low characters being chopped on some systems.

I haven't found a solution to the problem yet.

What you are seeing is the result of my compromise:  I set the line height to be about 15% higher than it was, so that most of the characters in the font are usable on most systems.

Hello again,
this is not related to my special PPP desktop configuration: in the normal configuration also occurs.
Best Regards,

Hello,

When forming a square with graphics characters the square is not vertically closed because the '|' characters don't touch each other; a screen shot is attached.

This occurs on this environment:

Windows XP Professional
font version: FreeMono 1.66 (I think it wasn't happening earlier but not sure)
format: OTF and TTF
program: PuTTY
character size: all

Best Regards,
