Disregard my previous question; I opened a new ticket here reporting the issue to keep things organized.  Please close this ticket as the issue is not related to your code.

Yes, the fault is not with upstream at all but with one of the Distro-specific scripts called "10_archlinux" BUT I do believe that a related issue is the fault of an upstream supplied script "10_linux" which is described in the linked Arch bug report.[1]

Shall I will open a new task in this bug tracker or will this post be sufficient?

Please retry with upstream GRUB, apparently arch messed up with grub-mkconfig

Using the autogenerated grub.cfg renders the system unable to boot to a btrfs root partition. Downgrading to version 2.00.1282.g5ae5c54 and regenerating grub.cfg restores the functionality.  Both the non-functional and the functional grub.cfg is attached for comparison.

The message displayed when attempting to boot to the autogenerated entry:

"ERROR: Boot device mounted successfully but /sbin/init does not exist.
Bailling out, you are on your own. Good luck.

sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
[rootfs /]#"

I have also opened a task in the Arch Linux bug tracker, but wanted to give upstream a chance to see this as well (hence this ticket).

Link to Arch bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/38566

Steps to reproduce:
1) Install package on an EFI system that uses a btrfs root partition (I cannot try on an non-EFI system as I do not own one).
2) Mount /boot/efi to $esp.
3) grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=grub --recheck
4) chmod -x /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### this is known to produce bogus entries on Arch Linux, see flyspray #38455, https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/38455
5) grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
6) Reboot and try to boot the system

My system is an EFI motherboard running Arch Linux x86_64 using all distro provided packages.
