Sun 08 Aug 2004 01:07:31 PM UTC, original submission:

Tested on FreeBSD 5.2.1p9, but probably platform independant
Reproductible with the following procedure :

File / New game or match, with manual dice
OK in the dice window, without selecting a roll
Windows / Dock panels

gives a segmentation violation :

#0 0x080cfc56 in GTKUpdateAnnotations () at gtkgame.c:2490
2490 for( pl = plGame->plNext; pl->p; pl = pl->plNext ) {

plGame->plNext is bogus so pl->p causes a segmentation violation.

More generally the game data structure may not be properly initialized at this stage of the game or the code is too optimistic about the validity of this data.

For instance clicking on previous move or next move (instead of dock panels) lead to the following crashes :

#0 0x0807a81a in CommandPrevious (sz=0x0) at play.c:3884
3884 while( n-- && plLastMove->plPrev->p )

#0 0x0807a0a1 in CommandNextRoll (sz=0x878db19 "") at play.c:3521
3521 if( !plLastMove || !plLastMove->plNext ||

Previous marked move and Next marked move crash gnubg as well.
