I have two IDE drives and two SCSI drives in my system. When running grub inside of Linux, hd0 and 1 are the IDE disks, 2 and 3 are the SCSI disks. hd2 is my grub root. However, at boot time, hd0 becomes the root. It's as if the IDE and SCSI disks swap places after booting.

This isn't really a large problem because it's easy enough to just use the swapped device in menu.lst, but it is inconsistent.

My motherboard is a Supermicro X5DA8, so the relevant controllers are, I believe, Intel ICH4 (IDE) and Adaptec AIC-7902 (SCSI). I'm using Linux 2.6.7. I'm not sure if this is a BIOS, Linux, or Grub thing (or something else), but since the problem manifests itself while using Grub, I hope reporting it here would be OK.
