Date formatting with a TextField should be doable either by binding dateFormat or formatter. As it stands, it seems the only one that works is to use fomatter. for example:

DateField : GSWTextField {
value = myDate;
dateFormat = "%Y";
}

should allow me to only enter 4 digit years, but instead produces this HTML:

<INPUT ... dateFormat="%Y" >
