Can you give me some more detail. Was the computer thinking about the move when you pressed new? In which way did the computer keep playing?

> I have yet also to win a game?

gnubg plays at a very high level, I suggest trying an easier playing strength, go to Settings->Players and change the Chequer and Cube settings to an easier level.
