handling of non-ASCII characters in email seems to be severely broken.
1) if the Account name contains special characters, the From: header seems to be formatted in a wrong way. Example:
Account name: Christian Böttger
From: "Christian =?iso-8859-1?Q?B=C3=B6ttger?=" <CBoettger@probusiness.de>
This is displayed correctly in Thunderbird and Mozilla, but is broken in e.g. phpGW/email itself, Outlook, KMail and Evolution. Outlook e.g. displays it as
Christian Böttger [CBoettger@probusiness.de]
I'm not an encoding guru, but there must be something wrong in phpGW/email...
b) If e.g. an Exchnage 5.5 server is used as IMAP server (e.g. for migration purposes) and the folder names contain language specific characters or stuff like | (which is allowed and common in Exchange), the select boxes for "select a folder" or "move to folder" dont't work. Either there is nothing shown at all, or there is just one selction, e.g. "(24)", which seems to be the no. of one of the folders.
Even worse:
after viewing any email or deleting one or writing a new one, the following error shows up (3 times in the main window and 3 times on top of the screen):
From: Parse error: parse error, expecting `']'' in /srv/www/htdocs/pbgroupware/email/inc/class.mail_msg_wrappers.inc.php(5436) : eval()'d code on line 1
More strangely:
As soon as this error appears, the select boxes all of a sudden show all IMAP folders!
But: all special characters are preceeded by a non-printable character shown as an empty square.
And: after the next refresh (which is done periodically by the email app), the error goes away, and the select boxes are empty again.
This seems to be a hell of a mess in the email app code.
BTW: when using the folders module (with the pb template), no IMAP folders are shown there. Just one email-icon without a name which links to the inbox.
