Closed as this was either invalid or a base bug that has been fixed a long time ago.

From looking into this previously, it seems like base needs to use another method/function to achieve the lock on OpenBSD. I am attempting to set up OpenBSD on a machine here to debug the issue. GJC

On openBSD 3.4 (sparc) gopen segfaults when opening an application. It seems to fail inside "atomic lock". Using openapp works instead.
