If I remeber correctly, at least with older OS/2's there were some issues with OS/2 boot loader. It can't load it's "kernel" from high cylinders, so only choice was to use OS/2 Boot Manager. I'll think it loads OS/2 "kernel" directly.

So without native OS/2 support I don't think this is possible.

You say this is confusing. What do you need to know that would make it less so? Grub is not adequately recognizing the HPFS partition and evidently cannot find the OS/2 boot loader. The partitions on the disk were, ~7mb OS/2 bootmanager, 2GB MSDOS, 4GB OS/2 HPFS, ~12 GB extended partition with 2GB MSDOS and 6GB Linux ext2. The first MSDOS partition was changed to fat32 and resized to something over 5GB. The OS/2 HPFS partition stayed at ~4GB but was moved back on the disk ~3GB, but still next to the FAT32 partition. The FAT32 (with windows 98 SE) booted fine with Grub both before and after the changes made with PM. The OS/2 partition would not boot with Lilo or GRUB after the change with PM (After reinstalling both LILO (on a floppy) and Grub). The OS/2 partition boots with OS/2 BootManager, but not Grub. I would rather just use Grub, since now I have two boot programs, OS/2 Bootmanager boots, OS/2, the Linux partition and Win98. Lilo boots the Linux partition to a specific kernel. The core issue is PM did something to the HPFS partition that Grub (and Lilo) can no longer deal with. I would like to find what that is. If someone could point to some docs that tell me what to look for I'd be glad to hunt down the problem further. I supposed I would need some tool that can look at the raw partition and layout data on the disk. Is there such a tool freely available? My email is heitkamp@ameritech.net.

No user info. The description is also confusing.

Cannot boot OS/2 with grub after partition is moved with Partition Magic 6.0. OS/2 and OS/2 BootManager can still boot OS/2. Both Lilo and Grub cannot. Grub does not appear to recognize the HPFS filesystem. A message something like unknown filesystem type 0x07 appears. When using grub find to find OS/2 boot critical files none are found. The message: "A kernel file is missing from the disk. Insert a system diskette and restart the system." This is an OS/2 message I believe. The disk system is a 18 GB Seagate Barracuda on a LSI21040.
