Probably it's a bug in glibc. I don't think it's GRUB's.

Grub is segfaulting when I try to run it.
It is crashing on the lib/devices.c file at about line 590 while calling realpath in stdlib...
if (realpath (discn, name))

discn='/dev/discs/disc0'
name is a char array with size 4096

I am running only IDE devices. My devices that devices.c is looking at are symlinks.
/dev/disc0 -> ../ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/

This is Linux 2.4.22-26mdk Mandrake 9.2.
This may not be a bug in grub but more a problem dealing with the horrible mess that Mandrake has made of the /dev tree.
