The ":" in the SFTP server name is interpreted as a separator to enter a particular directory.

To use a different port, add the lines:

   Host my.special.host.com
       Port 12345"

either to /etc/ssh/ssh_config or to ~/.ssh/config.

According to a code tla should be able to support non standard ports for sftp:

(17:54:06) bartt: Is it possible to tell tla to use a different port when using sftp to connect to an archive?
(17:54:42) bartt: Command line sftp accepts -oPort=xxxx
(17:55:04) walters:     /* [user@]hostname[:port]/path
(17:55:13) walters: disregard the leading /*
(17:55:29) walters: (i grabbed that from libarch/pfs-sftp.c)

In practice this alays fails with error:

ssh hostname:port: Name or service not known error.

(Note: upload size limit is set to 16384 kB, after insertion of the required escape characters.)
