That's a gcc bug.

Even if there is something wrong with fromtex.cpp, such a lousy error reporting qualifies as a bug.

Anyway, texmacs does not use assembly language at all, so there is probably something wrong with gcc.

Compilation with gcc3.3 on mips or mipsel gives
plenty of assembler warnings:

tmp/ccl1bbCc.s:250409: Warning: AT used after ".set noat" or macro used after ".set nomacro"
