The various data types defined in liboctave like Array, Matrix, RowVector, etc. are meant for numerical calculation.  They are heavyweight objects with significant constructors and an inheritance chain.

The Octave code base, historically, has used some of these objects where only a simple data container is really necessary.  In these cases, it would be better to use an object from the standard library that is lightweight, fast, and optimized.  For example, to store a few numbers, use std::vector<double>.

Replacing these instances in the code base need not happen immediately, but if you are editing code and see an opportunity to also make this change then please go ahead.
