I will do the newline thing in the future.

I did look at the thread, and I didn't see any discussion of -E except an offhand comment by Tom. I don't understand why "tla commit -E" is would be better than just "tla commit".

please do the following:
1) put a newline after the variables before the code - it aids clarity in reading.
2) require a -E --editor option, as per the thread on the list. It should
- invoke the editor whether or not a log already exists
- conflict with the -s -l and -L options.
- (Based on my memory of the thread. feel free to perform archaeology and correct me)

In patch-7, I added support for invoking $EDITOR if the user types "tla commit".

Also (unrelated, but a new bug feels like overkill): patch-6 and patch-8 both contain fixes for -Wall -Werror issues.
