yes, exactly like that, Eclipse has the same thing and you can click on the mark to move to the variable, it is my favourite feature and makes it easy to work on large files

Thanks for the request.  Thu GUI has come a long way in recent years, but your feedback on continued improvements is appreciated. Just so I understand the request, when a variable is highlighted you'd like to better be able to see how it appears throughout the entire file?  Something like in modern Chrome or Edge browsers, if you do a Ctrl-F to search for text, marks appear in the scroll bar to indicated all occurrences in the page? This seems like a useful feature for both the Find command and the current selection behavior.  updating header data

Hello! Thanks for Octave! It is very useful software!

The editor is very nice, when you press on a variable it is marked in the left where it is in the code. But this mark is only for the visible code. I request that you also show where it is for the whole script and not just the visible part of the script.

So like a bar that represents the whole length of the document which can be marked with lines where the variable is present.
