Hi Frank,
Following on from Jørn's note, I've closed this bug report. Read my notes on your bugs/suggestions below (marked with >>). Please submit anything in the future in indiviual reports.
-------------------------------------------------
The GUI is very, very nice, so the 3D-board, although it crashes sometimes (minimize/maximize window is helpful in this case).
>> Try updating your graphics card driver.
Export of html-images doesn't work correct. I guess some images are not exported (e.g. b-roff-x0.png and b-loff-x0.png).
>> This should be fixed in the latest version.
The analysis window doesn't show GWC for checker play, even it's enabled (cube decision does). Only clipboard copy works.
>> I'll have a look at this
If a match with different player names is imported, GnuBG replaces the names which have been defined in the Settings/Players dialog although a new game/match/session is started. There should be a reset when starting a new match/game/session. Maybe a File/Close dialog is useful.
>> The player records will probably move to a database and this will be looked at then.
I don't know for what people the "Direction"-button might be useful, I would like to prefer some buttons concerning analysis (analyse match/game and statistics). Some kind of batch-analysis for several matches would be useful too.
Let's say import a *.txt file with names of match files and Gnu performs analysis automatically.
>> A analyse button may be added. I've recently added a python script to do batch analysis.
I'm missing some kind of hardcopy export for position including statistics. Postscript works nice, but statistics are not included. In the .txt export full statistics are included, but the board is somewhat ugly. Is it possible to create a special font with nicer board-design? Snowie used it for .rtf export (n.b. I don't use Snowie ;-).
>> Unlikely, why not use the html export?
Default name for saving files is date-players-match length. I would be useful to add a counter instead of match length, e.g. "2003-11-06-GnuBG-Frank-001.sgf" "...-098.sgf" etc. (usually you're playing more than one match a day ;-), or even default match file.....001.sgf.
>> I guess it's not that much of a problem as no-one else has mentioned it, just add your own counter to the filename.
I guess the rating comments (Awful!, Beginner, World class, etc.) should be adjusted. I analysed a 25pt match between Bill Robertie and Paul Magriel with GnuBG (world class setting) and both players where rated overall "advanced", whereas the rating for single games ranged from "Awful!" to "Supernatural" for both players!!!! (Did you ever tell them?)
>> Small games don't give an accurate rating guide.
In the Player Records is nothing recorded about the game/match statistics (e.g. games/matches won/lost ...percent etc.). Would be nice to have this stuff implemented (have a look at JellyFish perhaps).
By the way: If the player wants to add the match statistics and pushes the "Add to player records\game statistics" button by accident, and afterwards the correct "Add to player records\match statistics"-button, the game is recorded twice! Sometimes I don't know, if I'd add the match or not, and I think there's no way to find out (or even cancel). I guess this should happen automatically, if a player created an account before (known from Snowie).
The menu "Analyse\Add to player records" should be moved to the "Analyse\Match statistics"- window. Would be more comfortable for users.
>> The player records will probably move to a database and this will be looked at then.
What the hell is a Sho Sengoku Temperature Map? No. 34 at the Sushi Bar (rice included)?
Last not least, the German translation doesn't sound very smooth, in Germany we call something like that "Germish" or "Denglisch". Did you perform some kind of bot-translation? If you are interested, I could try to do some translation tuning for you, just tell me how it works.
>> Thanks for your remarks.
