updated via cvs some minutes ago, the problem still remains.
Name are siplay corretly on admin module and, i noted today, on infolog module. Email and calendard both display a single è character as two strange (non-ascii, è) characters.
Sorry. ;(

mm, i had an error with accented characters to save the record in contacts when use LDAP, but this error seems as the problem is with stripslashes and addslashes for the string, please try using a DB and report if you have the same problem.
thanks.

Sorry, 'm terribly late, but i was overbusy at work, and then i've had some trouble to update via CVS my phpgw installation.
Finally i've verified the patch, but seems that does not work. ;(
The same situation, the surname Del Frè display correctly only in edit box of administrator's user manager, but every application (administrator's user display page, calendar, ...) display Del Frè instead.
I've done a full update, apart for:
M phpwebhosting/index.php
(modify by me, but i think does not bother)
? phpgwapi/inc/class.browser.inc.php.test
?!
and some other files in sitemanager.
Many thanks and again excuse me... ;(((

This has been corrected in CVS.
To grab a complete update of all fixes:
1) Check to see if you have cvs installed: 'cvs --help'.
1a) If not, install a copy of cvs-cli from your favorite
distro.
2) Then just type:
'cd <your phpgroupware dir>; cvs update -dP'.
You can do step 2 as many times in a day as you wish, and
will always get the most current bug fixes.
Thanks,

Ok, correcting the accented surname on LDAP database does not sufficies, i've simply added the user to another group and save it and the surname got again the accented character garbled.
Another strange thing: in display mode the surname are garbled, if i try to modify it, i've found correct in the modify page.
Again: the single accented character (è) are translated to two strange character (è). Unicode?!
I'm rather sure i'm not using unicode in LDAP setup...

Wed 29 Oct 2003 11:14:53 AM UTC, original submission:
I've setup an account for a user that have accented character in name (Federica del Frè), and phpgw admin tool pop up to me an LDAP error.
I've retried without it (Federica delFre) and account was created, then i've uset an LDAP tool (GQ) to correct the surname.
All seems work well, apart the email (i fire a bug to him now), could be simply a wrong escaping?!
