Fixed in git, commit fe5f05f0, by not automatically wiping the message, and blanking the help lines and pausing a little in an attempt to grab the user's attention.

To reproduce, run:

src/nano --locking --suspend --ignore NEWS

and type: ^Z
Then run:

src/nano --locking --suspend --ignore

and type: xxx ^O NEWS <Enter>
and at the OVERWRITE question type: y
When you're quick, you can read on the statusbar: "[ Someone else is also editing this file ]".  The message disappears after about a second and is replaced with "[ Wrote 1 line ]".

This is not good.  The "Someone else..." message is so surprising that the user will need several seconds to absorb it.  So the message should not automatically disappear but stay onscreen until the user decides to continue editing.
