Wed 05 May 2021 12:17:37 PM UTC, comment #1: Working on the Julia plugin made me realise that there is a missing functionality which is currently implemented by hacky code involving TEXMACS_HOME_PATH and TEXMACS_PATH. The missing functionality is a standard way for the scheme code of the plugin to have the location of the plugin directory within the filesystem in order to locate auxiliary files: very often the scripts implementing the plugin protocol.

Many plugins rely on the availability of the TEXMACS_HOME_PATH environment variable. This variable does not seem to be set for remote plugins, hence most of them don't work.
