This was caused by a lax test for equality between Directive tags - they are allowed to differ after a newline, but the test allowed RepeatEndStart to match RepeatEnd.
Fixed in git now.

Specifically, if the cursor is on a repeat start/end and you execute the command to enter a repeat end a heap of separate directives are created and the x-positions are not calculated properly making editing difficult.
