The following is a suggestion to conform to standard menu behavior in macOS.
The preference dialog available from View > Retina settings… does not feel at the right place (and is hard to find). It should be part of the application preferences available from the Edit > Preferences… menu. I can't think of any other macOS application offering preferences in any other place than the main preference menu.
It has been a long time that macOS has decided to relocate application preferences from the Edit menu to the main application menu: the application preferences are now expected to be found in TeXmacs > Preferences… and not in Edit > Preferences…

About TeXmacs (corresponding to the existing Help > About > Summary which is currently difficult to find)
------
Preferences…
