On the other hand, there is a case against it: 1) Linux kernel support is sufficient and FreeType is not needed, 2) tools exist to convert to and from PSF font. A counterproposal would be to switch kernel to PCF fonts. |

Corresponding source code
Historically, FreeType was meant for scalable fonts. All bitmap font support was contributed by motivated volunteers like yourself who needed it. This is how BDF, PCF, and FON support came to be.
So, roll up your sleeves and start coding if it matters to you.
