Ctrl+Left (or +Right) is used in the editor for navigating the cursor a whole word, Ctrl+Home jumps to the beginning of the file.

We currently have Ctrl-Alt-C and Ctrl-Alt-D for closing and un/docking a widget respectively. What about Ctrl-Alt-P for the "previous" widget?

"Ctrl+Alt" being an alternative for "Alt Gr" seems to be a Windows only thing. That also means that we cannot use a shortcut that combines "Ctrl+Alt" if we want to stay consistent cross platform.

I'm trying to think of something that implies the movement back to a previous position. What about Ctrl+Home or Ctrl+Left?

Markus, I am also using a German Layout, but for me it is no problem to enter } in , e.g., the console or editor window. Aside from that, I have no objections to change the default shortcut for panel switching. Any suggestions?

Using a German keyboard layout, it is no longer possible to enter a "}" anywhere in Octave.
The reason is that "}" is entered by holding "AltGr" and entering "0". An alternative for the "AltGr" key is holding "Ctrl" and "Alt" at the same time. Alt+Ctrl+0 happens to be a newly introduced shortcut to switch to the previous panel.

It is possible to manually bind that shortcut to different keys. But it would probably be very unexpected for users if they were unable to enter "}" with the default settings.

Could we change the default key binding for that shortcut?
