I have the same issue, solved by using the zip file in comment #7.

I just hit this as well when installing 5.2 on a clean instance of Windows 10.

The workaround - manually extract the dll from the attached zip file - worked.

I checked my quarantined file list and this was not blocked by any Windows security tools (this all I run).

It simply looks like that file was not extracted/installed during setup.

If there is any logging or other debug info I can provide let me know.  I'll try reinstalling if that would help.

Thanks.  If it happens again I will try your suggestion.  I have the file downloaded and ready if I need it.  McAfee did scan the download and did not put it in quarantine.  I haven't tried unzipping it yet.

Thanks again.

Next time it quarantines the file, try replacing the file with this one (attached)

I havent tried it but its only a minor version update from the one that cam with the installer so should still work.

I guess there is no guarentee that mcafee wont suddently determine it has a bad signature either.

I, once again, told McAfee to restore the dll from quarantine and now Octave again starts without the warning/error dialogs. Not sure why the file got quarantined again when it was in the exclusion list.  Maybe I need to think about contacting McAfee about that.

John - you mentioned a build of the dll that doesn't trigger the problem. Could an update to the Octave distribution including this 'safe' dll be coming soon?

I'm now back in the same boat where I get the error when I start Octave and no documentation is available.  The sqlite dll is still shown in the exclusion list.  Any suggestions on how to keep the fix persistent?

My Mcafee updated to do the same deletion from the 5.2.0 install. The sqlite3-0.dll I built using a updated version of sqlite doesnt trigger the response

Thanks for the responses.  I was able to solve the problem by restoring the following file from McAfee Total Protection quarantine and adding it to the real-time scan exclusion list:
"C:\Octave\Octave-5.2.0\mingw64\bin\libsqlite3-0.dll".

The error dialogs showed up when I started Octave using the desktop shortcut which uses the octave.vbs script.

Thanks again,
Les

When does the error appear? during the install, or when running octave afterwards ?

If running octave afterward, were you running from the installed shortcut (and which one?) or some other method ?

Octave's documentation browser depends on the Qt sqlite plugin, which is included in the Windows distribution. The file name is C:\Octave\Octave-5.2.0\mingw64\qt5\plugins\sqldrivers\qsqlite.dll (or wherever you installed Octave on your system). Check that that file exists, hasn't been deleted or quarantined by your virus scanner software, and that you are starting Octave using the launcher or the "octave.vbs" script.

I just installed 5.2.0 (Windows 10, 64 bit - octave-5.2.0_1-w64-installer.exe) and I get the referenced error message.

The next error dialog said 'Octave cannot load sqlite database server'.

I did quite a bit of searching online and didn't find anyone with the same problem (recently) or a solution.

I browsed through the bug list and see that this was an issue quite some time ago (and listed as fixed) but nobody else seems to have reported this issue recently.

If there is a forum or something that I should be using instead of the bugs list, please accept my apologies and let me know the best way to investigate a possible solution.

For now, I guess I'll be sticking with 5.1.0.

Thank you.
Les
