To reproduce, add the following line at the end of your ~/.nanorc:

  extendsyntax default linter foobar

Then run 'src/nano README' and type M-B.

Result: [ Error invoking "foobar" ] is printed in normal colors, as if it were an informational message, and there is no beep.

Expected behavior: when running the linter fails, nano should beep, and the message should be shown in the error colors.
