Whitelisting the page's domain works on 7.14.1 but the functionality to block per-script (which is needed for external scripts hosted by third party domains) is not implemented yet. Updating the summary.

Same for https://duckduckgo.com/.

With LibreJS 7.11.  Is this the same as 0.7?

A further problem is that just now after enabling it again, and opening a search page on DuckDuckGo, computer gets slow: Firefox is using ~100% CPU.  Disabling LibreJS results in normal use of between 1% and 20%.

Bill, yes, same issue persists in new version.

I tried with LibreJS 7.11 (Firefox 58.0.2).  The result is the same: does not work after white-listing, only after disabling LibreJS all together.

Marco-

LibreJS recognizes free Javascript based on a whether or not it uses a license declared in the script itself as a specialized machine-readable comment.

It seems like that page (although it may be free software) doesn't use the preferred format and thus cannot be recognized.

note that libreJS v0.7 is a nearly total re-write; so this issue very likely refers to only one of them

as this behavior was seen using libreJS v0.6, could you try libreJS v0.7 on a firefox derivative >= v57 to see if the same issue still exists?

Someone else noted (same mailinglist thread) that the CUPS configuration page (localhost:631) does not work properly with LibreJS.  I can confirm that this is the case on GuixSD.  For instance http://localhost:631/help/overview.html displays an empty page when LibreJS is enabled.  If I whitelist localhost, it works again, so this appears to function properly.

CUPS is free software.  The JavaScript that it runs is, I suppose, part of the CUPS distribution, so it is free JavaScript as well.  Why is it then that LibreJS does not allow the display of the mentioned page?

I must say that I don't know how LibreJS works, as in what the criteria are how to make sure a piece of JavaScript code is free software.

Mart Rootamm found out that the following domains are used by tv.nrk.no:

static.nrk.no
innlogging.nrk.no
psapi-ne.nrk.no
dc.services.visualstudio.com
*.vo.msecnd.net — Microsoft Azure
nrk-od-08.akamaized — video stream

When I try to watch a video on https://tv.nrk.no/, LibreJS blocks the non-free JavaScript that is apparently needed in this website.  When I whitelist tv.nrk.no in the configuration, LibreJS does not complain, but the video does not play (also when LibreJS is the only add-on loaded in IceCat).  Only if I disable the LibreJS extension, videos on https://tv.nrk.no/ will play properly.

My first guess is that there is an attempt to run JavaScript from a third-party domain, but if that were the case, why would LibreJS not show a message about that?

This happens with IceCat 52.3.0 on both GuixSD and Parabola, as
provided by the respective distributions.  LibreJS 6.0.13.

There is further information available here (but probably not useful to report all here directly):
