Centos3 = Perl 5.8.0.

So as long as Centos3 is the target platform, this is no go.

Perl versions supporting named capture:

5.18.2: OK
5.10.1: OK
5.10.0: OK
5.8.9: No
5.8.8: No

--recend cannot use () due to $opt::recend being used in regexps containing ()s.

If these were replaced with named captures, then this might be doable.

Challenge: How old are named captures? Do they exist on all supported versions of Perl?
