Octave is behaving correctly here. In Matrix Algebra there is no way to divide a 1x1 matrix by a 2x3 matrix.

If you are trying to calculate the reciprocal of each individual number in the array, then you want to use the './' syntax.

For example,

I would suggest reading an introductory text on Matlab or Octave to become familiar with the syntax. The manual for Octave is quite complete, and it is free, if you want to start there. But there are also a lot of quick tutorials on the Web.

Marking bug as invalid and closing report.

I tried the following operations:
A=[1,2,3;4,5,6];
B = 1/A;
This returns an error that reads that the arguments are not conformant to the format of the function.

I am using Octave 3.8.1 on Ubuntu unix 3.13.0x and as usual my boss will start behave angrily with me as soon as I make an error, I have to get rid of this fixation, maybe relocating out of my island will help.

I cannot attach screenshots of my error I must have forgotten the keyboard shortcut.
