Oops. When renaming the two variables, I didn't properly invert their logic. :|

Fixed now in git, 2358badc.

To reproduce, add these two lines to your .nanorc:

syntax "aha"
color brightred start="^" end="aha"

Then run 'src/nano --syntax=aha', and paste the following six lines:

so so aha
this is good aha
but
not
now
aha

See how everything is bright red. Now type <Del> to delete the final "a" from the final "aha". Only the "ah" becomes discolored, instead of the last four lines, from "but".
