The Qscintilla editor is quite fragile, especially when running in different locales and/or input methods. Does turning off the code autocompletion feature change anything for you or does it still crash?

interesting. can't recreate this on my system. Just repeated your steps and no crash. I'm running Octave 4.0.3 on Windows 7.

Can you reproduce the error? Does it crash every time? Does it crash if you type something else? What if you just wait a certain amount of time without typing? Are you given a crash message (in Octave or Windows) or does the window just disappear?

I run octave GUI and created a new script. In the editor, I typed `rand(1)', then Octave crashed.
