The file publish.tst was not being installed, so what you probably saw before was "make check" tested it properly, but if you install and run the test suite after installing, the file would not have been found.

Just an observation while running the tests on the 4.2.0-rc2 tarball:

  • The test of "publish.tst" is NOT run at all. At least I cannot find it in my fntests.log.
  • With the 4.2.0-rc1 tarball, publish.tst was still run. Directly inbetween nest.tst and args.tst.

I've only noticed this, because the number of failing test due to my buggy osmesa package (see bug #46675) dropped again from 4 fails (in rc1) to only 2 fails (in rc2).

Is this change intentional between rc1 and rc2? Or does it point to a bigger problem of silently skipping some tests?
