I pushed the fix for view on gnuplot here (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/e5ae26e50374).

There is not restriction on the values of (AZ,EL), this is not related to task #11311.

Moreover, when using qt, the results for any values of (AZ,EL) are compatible with Matlab result, but not with gnuplot.

I suspect that calling view with an elevation value greater than 90 should be an error. If that's right, this falls under task #11311 and can be closed as a duplicate and the cset submitted here would not be necessary.
