This bug still exists in FreeMono.

I find these things by knowing the sort of bugs fonts are prone to. This specific one I found by wondering whether FreeFont did variation selectors correctly.

No explanation for that: in both cases the correct sequence was present too, and these two were visibly out of place.

Some time, Anonymous, you really must tell me how you find these things.

Fix in SVN.

In FreeMono and FreeSerif, VS1 has an effect on U+2288 and U+2289, but those are invalid variation sequences.
