This is Manos again.
To add to this request, for matlab Scott Lowe has made this selection of themes (containing the right value for each parameter):
https://github.com/scottclowe/matlab-schemes

The schemes are applied by the use of his package matlab schemer:
https://github.com/scottclowe/matlab-schemer.

Thank you for your consideration,
Manos

I support this feature request. It would be very awesome to have the option of chosing a darker theme.

It might also be nice to organize things so that it is easier to share color themes. Or to make Octave use the prevailing system theme (if it does not already do that). And, at a minimum, document what needs to be customized.

This is a feature request for a darker theme. I know Octave is customisable, but it is a pain and in the end avertive to go through all the changes manually, trying each color separately. Also, I think the menus are not customisable.
It would be great for our eyes if there was some standard darker theme.

For example, trying to find a ready solution, I sumbled upon that (I think its from one of octave developers): http://jordi.platinum.linux.pl/piccies/octave-4.1+-screenshot.png
It resembles Sublime text which has is a gorgeous example of dark theme.
For some extra ideas, Visual Studio 2015 Community dark theme (standard in visual studio) comes to mind.
Also I attach my current matlab dark theme configuration to show what I have in mind, which I found somewhere almost ready and I added some extra customisation.

Thank you very much,
Manos
