Thanks Avinoam, thus closing as fixed.

I have reproduced this bug in version 4.0.3,
but it was fixed in the dev branch.

This fix will be included in the next version (4.2) of Octave.

If you are talking about the on-screen rendering of the plot, as opposed to the output when the print() command is used to save the figure to an image file, then it may be due to limitations of gnuplot's windows terminal and not an Octave bug. If the dashed lines do not appear properly in a saved eps or png file, then that may be a bug.

I believe it is a bug. Sorry for framing it as a support question.

Follow this simple line of code

graphics_toolkit("gnuplot")
x = 1:1:10;
y = 2*x;

plot (x, y, 'r --')

This should give me a dashed line but I am seeing a solid line.

Your question is a support request, not a bug. Please see the page http://www.octave.org/support for information on getting help via the mailing list or IRC. If you have found a bug in Octave, please explain what commands you are using, what output you expect, and what you are seeing instead.

Hi

I am trying to plot dashed lines or dotted lines using octave - graphics tool kit - GNU PLOT but I am failing terribly. I am always getting a solid line.

Dont know whats happening.

What is the terminal being used by the GNU PLOT Graphics tool kit ?

If so, how can I change it to something that is acceptable to plot a dashed or dotted line
